House Rules

The House Rules have been designed to keep everyone safe. Please remember that all rules go for everyone – computer scientists included!

  1. Usernames, messages, questions and answers must not include offensive content of any kind – this includes racist, sexist, sexual, or otherwise abusive language. Any account that posts offensive content or has an offensive username will be removed.
  2. Don’t share personal details (like address, phone numbers or social media handles) on the site. This is for your safety.
  3. Avoid repeating messages that have already been asked. We may delete these to keep the Chat tidy and manageable for all.

We can’t foresee everything so we may make up some rules as we go. We will be as fair as we can and we’ll post the rules here.

There are some rules for us (the people running the site) too.

We Promise:-

  1. We will always try to be fair. Our main aim is to give young people a say in STEM. We believe that can be done in a way that’s engaging, meaningful, and enjoyable.
  2. We will never block questions because they are challenging, only if they are offensive, duplicates, or don’t make any sense. We can’t make computer scientists answer them if they don’t want to though.
  3. When you provide your email address, we will only contact you about this event. If a student posts an especially great question, we may publish it, but we’ll maintain anonymity.

We will suspend accounts if a student needs a short pause to reflect on their behaviour. It will be used if someone is being disruptive, aggressive, or offensive towards others.

We will try to answer all questions you ask us honestly..
